Since 2000, Nierman Brothers Pools & Spas has been installing high-quality pools and spas in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Over the years, we've been asked many questions about our pool services, the majority of which you'll find answers to below. Give us a call today. Financing options are available as well.

  • What kind of pool is right for me?

You would have to ask yourself the following questions:

What is your budget? Concrete will be on the higher end of costs, with fiberglass in the middle and vinyl liner at the lower price point.

How will my pool be used? Exercise, games, relaxing, or all of the above?

What conditions (space, access, etc.) do I have to work with?

What kind of look do I want to have for my backyard retreat? Some designs can only be fulfilled with certain materials.

  • Can I use my pool all year long?

Yes, under certain conditions. Naturally, if the pool were to be indoors this would not be a problem. In our climate, certain design specifications would have to be met to be able to use your outdoor pool year round.

Obviously, it would be very costly to heat the pool using a gas heater. You would want to have an automatic cover on it to help retain heat, but that leads to the risk of the cover freezing up in its tracks.

To compensate for this, you would have to install a heating system in the coping of the pool to help prevent it from freezing.

Generally, the costs of using the pool all year-round make it prohibitive.

  • Can I only build a pool in the spring?

Depending on weather conditions, concrete can do some structural building all year round. Fiberglass, unless really cold, can be structurally installed most any time.

  • How do I create my pool's design style and choose my materials?

Choose your design by looking at design books, on the Internet or by meeting with one of our design staff. Consider your desired usage so that it can meet all your needs. Look at your location and ground conditions. Then make your decision based on materials after consulting with our design staff.

  • Will it cost me to get an estimate?

It will not cost you to get an estimate. The estimate will give you an idea of what you may spend. If we were to proceed to the next stage of design and drawing plans, you would get your final quote.

Upon acceptance of quote and payment, the plans would be owned by you.

  • How long does it usually take to build a pool?

There are many variables to the time: weather conditions, access, working with other contractors, etc. Generally, most projects can be done in 2-3 weeks.

  • What do your awards and accreditations mean to me?

There are many different organizations out there for businesses. We choose to align with those that deal directly with our line of work so that we can keep fully trained and updated. Also, we align with some local organizations and help in supporting the community. We are proud to be members of the following organizations:

Master Pool Guild: National organization of specialty concrete pool builders. Certain qualifications must be met to be members.

National Plasters Council: For certifications in pool plastering.

NSPI - National Spa Pool Institute: To keep training and building procedures updated.

BBB: To show potential clients our desire to do business with professional and moral standards.

Home Builders Association: To keep relationships with builders and to keep informed of new laws and standards that are required in different municipalities.

  • Can I finance my pool?

Yes. Many people use their own home equity loans. We do have opportunities for working with other finance companies to help meet your needs.

  • Do you have your own construction crews or do you contract outside your company?

We do have our own crews to maintain proper control. There are a few things that we must contract out due to local laws, such as electrical or gas lines. We also subcontract a plaster crew.

  • Will there be a construction superintendent assigned to my project?

Yes, you will have a supervisor as well as continual contact with sales.

  • Do you offer pool cleaning or maintenance services after I build my pool?

Yes, we have full-time service repair personnel to service your pool. We have maintenance personnel, as well. We also have cleaning / balancing personnel who is contracted to clean and chemically treat your pool. This is on a limited basis. Also, water testing is available during working hours.
